NEC Australia envisions further IT services success in 2015

Melbourne, 24 February 2015 - NEC Australia, a leading Australian IT services and technology firm, has announced its 2015 strategic vision designed to deliver a safer, smarter and a more secure society to further enhance its reputation as a leading ICT services and solutions organisation.

Last year, NEC Australia executed the first phase of a major internal business transformation in hand with one of the strongest years in its 45-year history in Australia, proving that successful transformation can be delivered alongside remarkable performance.  2014 was capped by major contract wins, including the Department of Defence, the Northern Territory Government and South Australia Police to name a few.

“We’ve achieved successes that few companies can fairly say they’ve matched in the time we’ve done it in, from merging core operations and services across two formerly separate organisations to achieving landmark deals that set the stage for NEC Australia’s future as Australia’s leading IT services and solutions firm,” said Tetsuro Akagi, Managing Director, NEC Australia.

Building on the successes of 2014, NEC Australia is on target to exceed expectations in its financial year for 2015, as customers continue to drive providers to unleash the next wave of innovations from big data, Software Defined Networking (SDN) and public safety solutions including biometric security solutions.

NEC has participated in the development of the OpenFlow protocol for SDN since its inception at Stanford University in 2008. In fact, NEC pioneered the technology’s commercialisation,
becoming the world’s first provider of commercialised SDN-based network solutions via its UNIVERGE PF series. NEC’s aggressive investments in the productisation of this technology have helped enterprises across the globe gain efficiencies in the operation of virtualised and cloud-based server environments.

NEC Australia is committed to deliver these types of advantages to the local market in order to differentiate our go-to-market services and  support organisations seeking significant efficiency gains in private and hybrid cloud deployments.

NEC Australia has proved to the Australian market that it has capabilities that go well beyond its reputable telecommunications history to encompass everything from supporting state of the art core ICT Infrastructure to designing and deploying innovative public safety systems. Recent examples include the provision of next generation policing capabilities to the South Australian Police’s Android-based mobile fingerprint solution and combining Liverpool City Council’s CCTV and free public wi-fi network in NSW.

NEC Australia is uniquely positioned to continue to capture the interest of Australian organisations that are seeking to deploy ICT as a business efficiency enabler.

In 2015, NEC Australia is expected to continue a strong growth trend and to invest in the local markets including the establishment of a major ICT operations facility at a NSW University in order to provide critical support services to government clients throughout NSW.

These investments in new operational facilities and innovative technologies coupled to our established services and solutions business ensures that NEC Australia has capacity to meet the demand for ICT solutions that will help customers minimise overlapping capital projects and improve resource utilisation levels through aligning operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) gaps.  This convergence is the subject of much debate that is occurring in many organisations ranging from local government to public safety services to critical infrastructure utilities providers.
