Oupa! It’s almost that time of year again …. Paniyiri Greek Festival set for May 23 + 24

Brisbane’s famous flavour-filled love affair with all things Hellenic is just around the corner – Paniyiri Greek Festival will be held over May 23 and 24 this year, paying tribute to the colour, culture and characters that make up the city’s Greek Community.

This year a Week of Greek will lead into the weekend, with art, food, culture and fashion events and to mark the 100th Anniversary of Gallipoli, Paniyiri will honour Greek Australian Diggers with ceremony and celebration.

Paniyiriis Queensland’s signature celebration of all things Greek and it’s the state’s largest cultural festival as well as the country’s longest running Greek festival – an admirable success story for the celebration that started in 1976 when a group of passionate Greek Australians wanted to share their cultural traditions with Brisbane. Fast forward to 2015, and this kaleidoscopic cultural explosion is now legendary with over 60,000 Greeks and honorary Greeks flocking to Musgrave Park, South Brisbane every year for the annual Paniyiri Greek Festival.
