Cirque du Soleil arrives in Queensland

TOTEM from Cirque du Soleil is setting up in Brisbane!

 

Cirque du Soleil big top to be raised at Northshore Hamilton

THIS FRIDAY, April 3, 2015

 

WHAT:                  Marking the return of a Cirque du Soleil big top production to Brisbane, television camera crews, official media photographers, and reporters are invited to attend the raising of Cirque du Soleil’s iconic blue-and-yellow big top, which will be home to the new production TOTEM at Northshore Hamilton from April 10, 2015. Attending media will be able to witness the spectacular ritual of sixty men and women strenuously pushing up more than 100 supporting poles to raise the canvas roof of the massive big top. Cirque du Soleil spokespeople will be available after the event for media interviews.

 

WHEN:                  Friday, April 3, 2015 at approx. 1pm Note:  A Kath Rose & Associates representative will contact you on the morning of the event to confirm the exact time.

 

WHERE:                Northshore Hamilton (257 Macarthur Avenue Central, Eagle Farm, QLD 4009 )  
*access to site through Gate 1/Employee Entrance located at the back of the Cirque du Soleil site.

 

Note: A hard hat will be provided on your arrival. Closed-toed shoes are required to get access to site.

 

About the big top and the Cirque du Soleil village:

·     The big top seats more than 2,600 people.

·     The entire site set-up takes 8 days. This includes installation of entrance, hospitality and rehearsal tents, box office, administrative offices and kitchen.

·     The big top stands 19 metres high and is 51 metres in diameter.

·     The 4 masts each stand at 25 metres tall.

·     550 pegs are required to hold the big top firmly to 4,506 square metres of asphalt.

·     TOTEM travels via 85 containers carrying close to 2,000 tons of equipment
