Tying Laces Will Take You Places

Ascent Footwear renowned for it’s range of comfortable, supportive & durable shoes are running free foot health education programs nationally for Australian primary school students.

An international poll* involving 6,017 parents, found two-thirds of Australian kids aged three to five years knew how to navigate a smartphone or iPad, 28% could operate a web browser, 70% could play a basic computer game, 58% could ride a bike, but only 8% could tie their shoe laces.

As a Brisbane based school shoe manufacturer, we work closely with the local podiatry community and our retail partner The Athlete's Foot to ensure we are meeting the needs of the Australian school market. Part of this commitment is in educating students about a range of foot health issues from learning how to tie shoelaces to basic foot biomechanics.

At present, Ascent Footwear is running two programs:

Prep to Grade 2: Tying Laces Will Take You Places, (20 minute presentation on learning how to tie your shoelaces.) This unit has had particularly good feedback from Prep teachers with students graduating to lace up school shoes.

Grade 4-5: Foot Health -The Importance of Correctly Fitted Footwear (A 30-40 minute presentation run in classes.) Our unit meets the curriculum standards for Safety and Personal Health guidelines for Upper Primary.

About Ascent Footwear: Ascent was founded in 2002, and has since revolutionised school shoes, work shoes and now safety boots by engineering them with athletic shoe technology. Engineered in Australia, we take a special interest in developing footwear specifically for the unique Australian environment and particularly the wellbeing of growing families.

Ascent footwear is designed to fit the typical Australian foot, which is broader at the forefoot and narrower at the heel compared with the global average. We biomechanically engineer all our footwear with essential durability, cushioning and support. We have a strict ‘gimmick free’ design policy, only utilizing real proven technologies so that the optimum benefit is delivered for the price.
