Strong Work Culture Key To Teknowledge’s Success, Says CEO

Announcement posted by Teknowledge software 13 May 2015

The high employee attendance percentage on the day of recent statewide general strike was the latest proof of the dedication and professionalism that Teknowledge has become known for. The CEO of the company attributes the sustained success of the company

It was not just another random holiday for the employees of Teknowledge Software on April 30. A statewide general strike had been called, but the office registered more than 85% attendance. It was refreshing to come across a professional organization that was not willing to let a day go to waste due to political reasons it had no relation with.

The impressive turnout and the regular work schedule on the day of the strike was not a standalone incident, stated the CEO of the mobile app company - Mr. Hussain Fakhruddin. Over the last decade, he has strived to build a strong, sincere work culture at Teknowledge - where productivity won’t be compromised and man-hours won’t be lost under any pretext. According to Mr. Fakhruddin, the in-house app developers, designers and HR personnel are given full freedom to choose their most convenient office-hours (i.e., flexi-timings are in place). Teknowledge is not a regular ‘9-to-7’ company, and it shows.

Working with iPhone app development experts who are passionate about their work has helped Mr. Fakhruddin achieve this discipline at Teknowledge - and the man is the first to admit it. With a slight chuckle, he stated that employees at his office start coming in from as early as 8:45 am, while there are ‘latecomers’ who make their entry after 10:30 am. No one, however, has any qualms about staying back late to finish their day’s work. Keeping work pending for the next day has never been a part of the Teks philosophy - and that’s probably why the app company is held in such high regard by its international clients.

While the trust factor between the administration and the employees is really sound at the mobile app development company, Mr. Fakhruddin also has a manpower-monitoring system in place. The daily entry and departure timings of each developer is recorded via the official biometric system of the company. The company CEO himself looks into the records on a regular basis. If anyone’s work timings is found to be significantly lower than what it should be over several weeks - (s)he is called for a one-on-one HR consultation. The CEO of Teknowledge was evidently happy to report that no such cases have been reported in the last year. The staff clearly recognizes, and respects, the leeway given to them by the company.

On the day of the strike too (just like similar strikes earlier), Teknowledge did not make it mandatory for its employees to attend office. An internal email was circulated - requesting everyone to use their own discretion while deciding whether they should step out on the day. The very fact that over 85% employees turned up was a clear evidence that looking for a cheap holiday was not in the mentality of those in the payroll in the company. As Mr. Fakhruddin reiterated, keeping the office open on the day was not about making a statement of any sort. It was all about giving the option to work to those who wanted to. The iPhone app development department, in fact, registered 100% attendance on April 30.

A well-placed source within the company opined that it is the friendly work-environment and the general bonhomie among the developers, graphic artists, and other teams that makes employees just that bit more enthusiastic about their work. The source pointed out that, on average, 10-11 hours were spent by the employees at office - and it is imperative that the office has a warm and friendly air about it. Teknowledge seems to have come up trumps in that regard.

At a time when many private companies are resorting to show-causes, salary cuts and other forms of intimidation to ensure proper employee performance, the cool and understanding approach of Teknowledge mobile app company indeed comes as a nice surprise. The company has, to date, never missed a project deadline, and has always been prompt with client interactions. Mr. Fakhruddin and the other senior admin personnel clearly knows the pulse of the employees. The robust work-culture automatically ensures enhanced performance.
