Implementing an Adaptable Security Awareness Program: Free ISACA Webinar

Announcement posted by ICON International Communications 20 May 2015

Sydney, Australia (20 May 2015)—While no one questions the growing need to develop and implement a multi-dimensional security awareness program, the steps required to get there have been formidable. High on the list of requirements has been to create a program that is adaptable to evolving threats in a timely manner. To explore how to create an awareness program that is aligned with an organisation’s unique risk profile, global IT association ISACA will offer a free webinar, titled “A Security Awareness Program that Adapts to Your Environment Is Within Reach” from 20 May 2015 at 2 a.m., AEST.

IT and IS professionals will find the steps to deploying an awareness program easier because the knowledge is much more advanced,” said Tom Pendergast, Ph.D., director of Awareness Solutions at MediaPro, and webinar presenter.

During the webinar, Pendergast will also discuss:

·         How the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Framework raised the standard for professionals in all industries, requiring “a process of continuous improvement incorporating advanced cybersecurity technologies.”

·         Until recently, creation of a sophisticated, multi-dimensional security awareness program that met the NIST criteria was difficult and cumbersome.

·         Today’s decision is to build or buy, and how that decision is easier to make.

·         The various elements that can deployed, including training, reinforcement, employee surveys/quizzes, phishing and more.

“I want people to see all the options at their disposal. While every organisation is different, you must remain flexible and adapt what you have to be successful,” said Pendergast.

In addition to being a cybersecurity professional, Pendergast is an accomplished mountain climber and commented:  “In mountain climbing, your goal is to reach the top, but with cybersecurity you never get there. There is always another threat emerging and it is a battle you can never stop fighting.”

Pendergast has spent his career in content and curriculum design, first in print as the founder of Full Circle Editorial, then in e-Learning with MediaPro. He is the author or editor of 26 books and reference collections.

Webinar participants can earn one free continuing professional education (CPE) credit. To register, visitwww.isaca.org/cyberwebinars.
