Million Dollar Sale for “Struggle Street” Suburb

Announcement posted by Professionals Outer Western Sydney 27 May 2015

Despite the negative image revealed by a recent TV portrayal, a property in Paull Street, Mount Druitt has just sold for $1,000,000 to a local family.

“You could get no better endorsement for the area than that” was the verdict of Terry Hansen, Principal for Professionals Outer Western Sydney - the real estate group who sold the property on the vendor‘s behalf.

Leon Buttigieg the agent who coordinated the sale for Professionals Outer Western Sydney remarked that, “it really shows that Mount Druitt, like most suburbs across Sydney, has enormous potential with some very special areas that can command above average prices when the right buyer finds the right home.”

Despite all of the outrage and controversy focussed on Mount Druitt after the recent SBS documentary, Struggle Street, the property received dozens of enquiries and multiple offers at the Open Day with a delighted home owner accepting the final offer of exactly $1,000,000.

Delighted too was the Mayor of Blacktown, Stephen Bali, who had railed against the treatment of the Mount Druitt area by the SBS documentary and what he described as “publicly funded poverty porn” as the show was about to air.

“This sale is a vivid illustration just how well Mount Druitt is regarded.  The reality is that Mount Druitt is booming, vibrant and growing fast.

We must not ignore the challenges disadvantaged people face but I welcome this chance to balance the recent negative portrayal of parts our City”.
