OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY FROM DOGS BAR, ST KILDA

A historian once said, “The challenge of history is to recover the past and introduce it to the present.”

The Dogs Bar in Acland Street, St Kilda has piles of history, lurking in rooms in the back of the building, hiding under bars and languishing in cupboards.  None of it is any good if it is sitting around collecting dust, so its time to introduce our history to the present.

Its time for a garage sale.

We are selling glassware, billposters, microphone stands, cookware – and that’s just one room.  There is so much that would mean a great deal to long time customers of The Dogs Bar. 

Its a garage sale of sorts.  It wont be in a garage but inside the Dogs Bar on Saturday July 18 from 10-Noon.  We will put on a bite to eat so you can be nourished as you scour through the piles for a treasure or two to take home and hold pride of place in your poolroom. 

Coffee and tea will flow as old friends and new get together and remember the old Donleavy days of the Dogs Bar.  New management, a new wine list and a new menu are all looking to reinvigorate this grand old lady of the drinking and dining scene with the intention of being around for a few decades more.

The new team will be there to share their dreams for the venue and to take your thoughts on how we can return the space to its former glory.

A lot will happen over the next few months, in small meaningful ways, but let's not worry about the future. Lets look to history and ensure you can recover a piece of the past and introduce it to your present.
