Succulents Ebook Just Released

Announcement posted by ACS Distance Education 24 Jun 2015

We are excited to announce that we have a new ebook that we have just released called “Succulents”. The Succulents ebook has been written by John Mason and staff of ACS Distance Education.

The Succulents ebook is an ideal guide for professional and home gardeners alike who would like to use succulents as an attractive and unique addition to any garden- large or small. Get to know more about this wonderful plant and the different genera- the options are endless.

The ebook covers the follow subject areas: Classification and Culture, Growing Succulents, Using Succulents and a comprehensive Succulent Plant Directory.

Here’s a short extract from the ebook:
“Succulents may be used in any of the following ways:

  • As a ground cover.
  • As a border plant.
  • As an architectural plant –Taller growing species (e.g. some agaves, yucca), and species with larger strap-like leaves are often used by garden designers and landscape architects, to provide interesting or contracting forms in a landscape.
  • For colour - the diversity of colour in foliage can be used to create dependable, all year colourful affects. Consider: if you plant a mass of azaleas, the mass is only colourful when the plants are in full flower; but if you plant a mass of succulents, you can have a splash of red, blue or gold in part of a garden for 12 months of the year.
  • Most non-succulents burn, but most succulents do not and as such can be considered as fire retardant plants.”

This ebook is now available for purchase for $32.95 including GST from our online bookshop and there is also a free sample available here:
