NDS Acquires VISIONIK, A Leader In Interactive TV Technology And Games Applications
NDS strengthens technology and application portfolio in a major growth area for interactive TV
NDS Group plc, a News Corporation company and a leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay TV, today announced that it has acquired the majority interest in and obtained control of the leading interactive TV application software company, VISIONIK A/S (formerly known as VISIONIK Interactive TV A/S).
Based in Denmark, but active worldwide, VISIONIK is a leading expert in digital interactive broadcast services and head-end software working across satellite, terrestrial and cable platforms. VISIONIKs reputation has grown from its expertise in interactive TV technology and TV entertainment including enhanced games and set-top box applications currently running on more than 14 networks around the world. In addition the companys interactive TV portfolio demonstrates a unique depth and breadth of technological and design experience, including interactive advertising, EPGs, messaging services, quiz shows as well as news, information, weather and transactional services. Interactive TV clients include Sky Active, Music Choice, DIRECTV Latin America, Austar, Chorus, TDC Kabel TV, Casema, Mediakabel, com hem and PrimaCom.
