Aruba introduces most advanced 802.11ac Wave 2 Access Points to Australia and New Zealand

Announcement posted by Aruba 15 Jul 2015

New Aruba Networks 320 Series to boost Wi-Fi network performance in the digital workplace, classroom and at public-facing venues
AUSTRALIA, Sydney – July 15, 2015 - Aruba Networks, an HP company, (NYSE: HPQ) today ushers in the most advanced 802.11ac Wave 2 Access Points (AP) that significantly boosts network capacity for the digital workplace, classroom and public-facing venue. To reach Australia and New Zealand in the third quarter of 2015, the Aruba 320 series AP is the only 802.11ac Wave 2 AP in its class to integrate a Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) Beacon that can help manage battery-powered Aruba Beacons from the cloud for firmware updates, battery life monitoring, and configuration changes. The new series features dynamic multi-user multiple input/multiple output (MU-MIMO) grouping, resulting in greater network performance. It also represents the only Wi-Fi solution to offer enhanced ClientMatch that is MU-MIMO client aware, enabling increased overall network capacity.

By 2018, it is projected that 75 per cent of workers in large organisations will interact with video more than three times daily[1]. Therefore, IT departments are challenged to support increasing Wi-Fi capacity performance requirements. Additionally, the introduction of a higher performing 802.11ac Wave 2 infrastructure requires the right kind of network intelligence to take advantage of new multi-user multiple input/multiple output (MU-MIMO) capable mobile devices by steering and grouping them together.

Steve Coad, Country Manager, Aruba Networks, Australia and New Zealand, said: “Aruba is dedicated to delivering technology that meets the changing needs of today’s digitally savvy workers and consumers. A range of factors are putting more strain on Wi-Fi networks: a growing number of devices per user accessing a single network, real-time and streamed video, VoIP applications and the increasing emergence of The Internet of Things.

“We’re thrilled to bring the new Aruba 320 Series to the Australia and New Zealand markets, helping accelerate digital domains from large office buildings, classrooms and hospitals to sporting stadiums.”

Andrew Ratcliff, Director and Major Account Manager at Matrix CNI, said: “With the 320 Series release, Aruba is once again at the forefront of Wi-Fi technology from a features and performance perspective. Our customers are becoming more curious about location-based Wi-Fi services and how it can enhance the end-user experience, so it is excellent to see the integration of Bluetooth Beacon technology in the Wave 2 APs. Aruba’s innovation will enable customers to explore and implement this emerging location-based Wi-Fi technology, whilst saving on additional hardware and management costs.

“The new 320 Series bridges the Wi-Fi performance gap with Gigabit wired technology. IT departments can connect more users to the network more efficiently and cost effectively, while ensuring excellent performance, security and flexibility. We predominantly work with Educational institutions, which demand maximum performance as well as longevity from their network investments. We’re already seeing a strong appetite for the 320 Series among customers.”

Leveraging Wave 2 to support #GenMobile in the digital workplace
To prepare for the anticipated influx of Wave 2 devices, Aruba has introduced new innovations into its patented ClientMatch technology, which originally solved the “sticky client” problem. The sticky client problem refers to mobile devices that do not roam to the next AP, causing significant performance degradation. The newly enhanced Aruba ClientMatch technology incorporates intelligent awareness for Wave 2 MU-MIMO clients, automatically steering and grouping MU-MIMO devices together on Aruba 320 series APs. This allows the 320 series to transmit data to multiple Wave 2-enabled devices simultaneously, increasing overall network capacity. Through these Wave 2 enhancements, ClientMatch technology will not only improve individual device performance, but it will also boost overall network efficiency for 802.11ac Wave 2. The result is up to 42 per cent improvement in performance over competing Wave 2 solutions without the enhanced ClientMatch technology.

Expanding indoor location services with integrated Bluetooth Beacons and management
In developed countries, most people spend the majority of their time indoors, and more than half own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled smartphones. This large market, compounded with a growing number of companies planning to implement indoor location-based services, presents a unique opportunity for organisations to take advantage of Aruba Mobile Engagement.

Aruba has integrated BLE Aruba Beacons into the 320 series AP. This enables remote, cloud-based management of battery-powered Aruba Beacons, eliminating the need to install a USB version of the Aruba Beacon on Aruba access points. Standalone beacons from competing vendors lack backend management tools and can’t efficiently scale to enterprise-wide or large public venue deployments. With the 320 series’ integrated Aruba Beacon, enterprises can now remotely manage, configure, and monitor battery levels from a cloud-based server, even for large-scale deployments with thousands of beacons.
