Expansion driven by new tech startup growth in world’s most-liveable city. Larger office in unique heritage building with co-working and event space available now

Melbourne 17 July 2015 - Fast-growing Australian tech startup accelerator BlueChilli will open a larger Melbourne office for its expanding business in the top floor of the landmark heritage building 520 Bourke Street Melbourne from 1 August. The iconic building features a one-of-a-kind open skylight ceiling and creative spaces including team offices, meeting rooms and 45 open-plan co-working desks available on both short-term and longer-term basis.

“We’re excited that our initial foothold in Melbourne is growing fast,” says BlueChilli founder and CEO Sebastien Eckersley-Maslin. “A partnership with Melbourne’s premier co-working provider Teamsquare allows us to offer more space in this iconic building for our growing tech startup community in Melbourne”.

“This is really reflective of the changing way businesses purchase real estate and services”, says Teamsquare co-founder Katherine Shimmins, “the traditional ‘lease’ doesn’t work anymore, and businesses need to be able to scale up and down quickly, and access services in modular, flexible way”.

The new premises feature a one-of-a-kind open skylight ceiling that brings abundant natural light into the space and makes the most of the city skyline views. In addition to BlueChilli’s growing community of early-stage tech startups, other occupants will include providers of tech recruitment, public relations, social media and digital design — all services useful when you’re a new tech startup. Newly-installed high-speed fibre connections ensure great internet connectivity.

A regular program of startup-focused community events will be hosted from the new space, and you can already find a handy calendar of Melbourne startup events hosted by BlueChilli startup CalendarTree at https://www.calendartree.com/_IM6X/melbourne-startup-events
