The Big Bethanie Bake Off is Back!

School kids vs. WA Seniors in big baking competition!

Bethanie today launched ‘The Big Bethanie Bake Off 2015’. Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event, which saw hundreds of entries from statewide, ‘The Big Bethanie Bake Off’ returns for a second year continuing the aim of closing the inter generational gap between our seniors and youngsters.

To take part, school aged kids and seniors must submit their family recipes online in the hope of being selected as a finalist to compete in a live bake off at Have a Go Day. School-aged children will be asked to research their grandparents’ background and discover their favourite recipe. The children will then need to reproduce the dish – with the aid of a grandparent – and submit their application for a chance to win some amazing prizes.

Each submission will be judged on the creativity, nutritional value, and complexity of the recipe, along with the story behind their secret family recipe. “This is an excellent opportunity to close the intergenerational gap in a fun, safe and social environment,” tells Bethanie CEO, Chris How.

“At Bethanie, we strive to keep our residents and clients social, active, and provide engaging activities to improve their well-being. What better way to do just that than by providing a platform that allows our clients to both bake and interact with West Australian children.

“We are very excited to see some healthy and wholesome ideas poured into the pots and pans for an exciting Bake Off,” continues Mr How. Four Bethanie residents will be chosen as finalists to compete against four chosen school students at the Grand Finale on Wednesday 11th November 2015 for a live bake off at Have a Go Day, Burswood Park.
