A new international paper shows promise for the viability of EVX’s hybrid retrofit kit

A new paper from the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) shows promise for the commercial viability of EVX’s hybrid retrofit kit. The global popularity of hybrid vehicles such as the Toyota Prius have been declining as buyers perceive the fuel savings are not significant enough to justify the relative higher cost of purchasing the car. A new paper from the ICCT Hybrid Vehicles: Technology Development and Cost Reduction forecasted that the costs of hybrid systems will be halved by 2025 from that of those in 2010.

Derived from the research and development of EVX’s solar car technology platform, the hybrid retrofit kit intends to be a simple, cost effective “bolt on” aftermarket product, enabling current petrol cars to be converted from being petrol powered to plug-in hybrid. This allows users of this product in development to enjoy significant fuel savings without having to buy a new car. This endeavour also supports custom car builders in a global niche market who are interested in offering hybrid and full electric options to their discerning customers.

EVX Ventures is a Melbourne-based electric vehicle startup in collaboration with the leading electric vehicle R&D group at Swinburne University of Technology.
