Sunshine Coast Council Launches Smart Location Based Information Services

The Sunshine Coast Council is launching services that use Bluetooth Beacons to provide proximity based information to locals and visitors.
The Council has partnered with Australian Company, iProximity to deliver these smart information services.
Sunshine Coast Council said its initial partnership with iProximity will provide a new way for residents and visitors to enjoy one of the region’s premier destinations.
“We are currently setting up a trial for the Bluetooth Beacons at the Sculpture Garden at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens in Tanawha, with a view to rolling other Beacon initiatives in many other areas,” a Council spokesman said.
Visitors with the HelloLocal App installed on their smartphone can detect the Beacons and locate information on the artwork or sculpture.
The information includes pictures, text, audio or video and in the future may also be delivered in different languages to meet the needs of tourists.
