BETHANIE MEDALLION AGED CARE AWARDS FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

Now in its 12th year, the Bethanie Medallion Aged Care Awards is recognizing even more aged care heroes than ever before. The Medallion is an honorary citation presented in recognition of an individual or organisation having a history of consistently deli

After much deliberation finalists have been selected and winners will be announced on Wednesday, 23rd September at a formal awards luncheon hosted at the recently refurbished Bethanie on the Park.

The Medallion is designed to recognise the people who serve and support our state’s aging population. This includes doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, aged care workers, CEO’s, volunteer organisations, students and individuals or anyone making a difference in the Aged Care community.

Of this year’s entries, Bethanie Corporate Outreach Manager Laurette LeCras, who oversees the Bethanie Medallion Aged Care Awards, said, “2015 has been a great year for the Bethanie Medallion with more nominations for each category than ever before.

“The inclusion of a new Wellbeing Award category recognizes the contribution of an individual in aged care going above and beyond the normal practice.”

The 2015 Bethanie Medallion Aged Care Awards finalists are:

Bethanie Caregiver Medallion: Recognises a caregiver with a history of consistently delivering exceptional service in an area of the Aged Care Sector.

  • Gloria Murison (Care worker) – Bethanie North Metro
  • Faye Donnan (OT) – Memory Nurture
  • Sue Wiseman (Centre Co-ordinator) – Bethanie Kwinana Social Centre

Bethanie Professional Medallion: (Executive / Management): Recognises a professional with a history of consistently delivering exceptional service in an area of the Aged Care sector at a senior management level.

  • Ramesh Parthasarthy (Consultant Physician & Gerontologist) – Bunbury Regional Hospital and South West
  • Libby Ingerson (Co-ordinator) – City of Canning
  • David Fenwick (CEO) – Amaroo Care Service

Bethanie Volunteer Organisation Medallion: Recognises an organisation that has shown outstanding dedication towards others in the community, inspiring others to contribute to, and participate in the Aged Care sector.

  • Bethanie Kwinana Social Centre Volunteers
  • Alzheimer’s Australia Volunteering Program
  • Ac-cent Mandurah

Bethanie Individual Volunteer Medallion: Recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to those in Aged Care in a voluntary capacity.

  • Ron Hancock (Music and dementia) – Bethanie Warwick & Kingsley
  • Neville Wilson – Bethanie Fields Aged Care Facility
  • Sasha Wray – Hilton Harvest Community Garden

Bethanie Wellbeing Medallion: Recognises the contribution of an individual in aged care going above and beyond normal practices in relation to creating or maintaining wellness or wellbeing programmes.

  • Sheila Lapping (Enabling Environment Consultant) – Alzheimer’s Australia
  • Trudy Turner (Lifestyle Facilitator & OTA) – Ocean Star Aged Care
  • Sylvia Lloyd (Activities Assistant) – Bethanie Maali Centre

 Bethanie Education Medallion: Recognises an exceptional student or graduate who goes above and beyond their education or community outreach programs to service aged care.

  • Kate Swaffer (Speaker, Advocate, Author) -Dementia International Alliance
  • Andrew Potter (Volunteer) – Bethanie Geneff
  • Terri Simpson (Project Officer & Educator) – WA Dementia Training Centre, Curtin University

The overall winner of the “Bethanie All Rounder Medallion”- which acknowledges one of the winners as exceeding in their contribution to aged care – will receive a trip for two to Best Western Kuta Beach in Bali, thanks to event sponsor Have A Go News.  All category winners will receive a double pass to Ace Cinemas Gold Lounge.
