Announcement posted by Wine Brain 31 Aug 2015

Tues 6 Oct, 2015 | 2:00pm-5:00pm | The Spring St Grocer Cheese Cellar |157 Spring St, Melbourne

Wine Collab is a collective forum to show the wines of independent, artisan, boutique wine producers to somms, wine trade and media. There’s no industrialized wine here: these producers are deeply involved in every step from vineyard to table, are driven by a singular vision and have plenty of dirt under their nails.

Tues 6 Oct, 2015 | 2:00pm-5:00pm | The Spring St Grocer Cheese Cellar |157 Spring St, Melbourne

Emerging from the rigours of the cellar, these independent producers have come together to reach out to Melbourne’s most discerning and innovative wine trade and media. The collaborators – Levin WinesMichael Hall Wines and Rieslingfreak – will present some uncommon, earnestly-made wine that tell a genuine and individual story.

Levin Wines. This certified-organic, boutique Loire Valley producer was est. 30 years ago by renowned UK hotelier David Levin. David and Lynne Levin weave new world with old; the Levin winery, imported from Adelaide Hills SA, now produces Sauvignon Blancs and Gamays from the ancient terroir of 19 vineyards across Touraine. Traditional, organic and biodynamic practices have delivered two Gold medals at the World Sauvignon Awards (for Levin and MISTER L) and Silver Medal in World Gamay Awards.

Michael Hall Wines. Originally from the UK, Michael Hall released his first vintage in 2008, bringing his wine dream to fruition after two decades of jewellery valuation in Switzerland. From Europe to the Barossa, he took this leap into the unknown, specialising in shiraz – Eden Valley Flaxman’s Valley Syrah and Barossa Valley Stone Well Shiraz – as well as teasing out some of the land’s finest Adelaide Hills Chardonnay. Each single-vineyard wines showcasing the diversity of terroir.

Rieslingfreak. Clare Valley-raised John Hughes has been a freak for Riesling ever since his salad days. Brought up with the great Clare Rieslings, he also developed an obsession for the German classification for ripeness and quality. Established in 2009, John’s Clare Valley, Eden Valley and Polish Hill Rieslings progress from dry to sweet, with a fortified and a sparkling (method traditional) on the way. Regarded highly by many, these Rieslings are a genuine representation of both region and style.

This trade and media focussed tasting will be held at The European’s gorgeous Spring St Grocer Cheese Cellar, on Tuesday 6 October 2015, between 2:00pm and 5:00pm.
