Nominees announced for this year’s Infinite Value Awards

The Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors are pleased to announce the finalists of the AIQS Infinite Value Awards. The winners will be honoured at a gala event hosted by former architect turned television commentator Max Walker at Cargo Hall South Wharf on 23 October.

Now in its fourth year, the coveted award program has a total of 11 categories ranging from project based awards for architectural and engineering excellence to individual awards for those making significant contributions to the Australian and global construction industry.

A new Regional Project Award is being introduced this year to highlight the achievements of those working outside of the major cities. Nominees for the regional project award include the Port Augusta Central Oval Community Sporting Complex, Toowoomba Regional Arts & Community Centre - Armitage Centre and the Wanarn Clinic in the Northern Territory.

AIQS President Mark Hampson said it’s important to pay tribute to some of the large scale infrastructure projects completed in Australia and abroad. “This year we want to recognise the collective efforts of the global construction sector shaping how we connect and identify the important role that quantity surveyors perform in that process,” he said.

The Adelaide Oval redevelopment project (Cox Architecture) is just one of the projects nominated for the Architectural Excellence Award. The project transformed the existing Adelaide Oval into a world-class multi-purpose sporting and entertainment facility and was delivered under budget. The Array Apartments (Mirvac Constructions) situated at Yarra’s Edge precinct in Melbourne has also been nominated alongside Adelaide Oval and Kiaora Place retail and commercial development in Double Bay, NSW.

Exsto Management has been announced as one of the finalists in the Engineering Excellence Award category for its Port Arthur Penitentiary Precinct Conservation project, along with Ralph Beattie Bosworth for the Perth Rectangular Stadium Stage 1 project and Victorian North Projects for their work with the Airport Drive and Realignment of Steele Creek North project.
A Lifetime Contribution award will also be presented on the night to the person who has given exemplary service to the sector throughout their career. Other individual recognition awards include The Future Leader award, designed to recognise the “movers and shakers” within the construction industry, which has received four nominees, three of the contenders from Victoria and the other from Dubai.

President Mark Hampson said “Once again we have an exemplary pool of candidates to choose from that illustrate the best of our sector. The awards are a way of recognising and promoting the significant contribution to our industry that these individuals or businesses undertake every year.”

An impressive panel of experts has been selected to judge the nominees, including Consulting Engineer and Project manager Phillip Isaacs, Infrastructure Specialist Chris Lock, Architect and House Rules judge Joe Snell and Academic Dennis Lenard.

“The judges this year have a tough task selecting winners from all the submissions. Whichever name is read out at the award gala dinner, I’m sure it will be a fantastic night for our industry,” said Mark Hampson.
