Announcement posted by Sports Camps Australia 17 Sep 2015
Spiro joins Sports Camps Australia this school holiday to head the soccer program at Clifton Park. Originally born in Sydney, NSW, Spiro started playing football in his hometown of Akrata, Corinthia in the early 60’s. In 1977, he joined AEK. Economopoulos played for AEK until 1996 when he retired. In his playing days, he was capped 12 times by the National Football Team of Greece. Economopoulos was a senior Goalkeeping Coach with AEK and AEK Youth Academy in 2014-15 and was voted best player 1989 in the Greek National League.
“Campers and players that have attended programs with Spiro are constantly being challenged to perform at that elite level. He keeps each player engaged and encourages them to keep pushing their fitness levels”, states Mark Wilton, CEO of Sports Camps Australia. “I expect the campers attending the Melbourne Camp to be equally impressed with the camp and leave with similar results.”
