My Cubby Cubby Houses Great For Getting Kids Outside

Announcement posted by My Cubby 18 Sep 2015

Most of us remember when we used to play outside after school until our mums called us in for dinner. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case as parents, understandably, need to know exactly where their kids are at all times.

We are all very aware of the fact that outdoor play increases fitness levels and builds active, healthy bodies, and spending time outside raises levels of Vitamin D, helping protect children from future bone problems, heart disease, diabetes and other health issues. Kids today are admirably aware of the global threats to their environment but their physical contact, their intimacy with nature on a day-to-day basis, is fading.

The good news is that there is a great product on the market today in the form of My Cubby cubby houses, which are all about getting kids back outdoors into happy, healthy play in your backyard! Paul and Gail started My Cubby, having been unsuccessful in trying to find an exciting, modern cubby house for their two children. After seeing the same old traditional box style cubbies (that end up being used as glorified toy boxes!) they finally came across these amazing cubbies, and loved the unique design so much that they set up My Cubby to get more of these awesome cubbies out there for kids to enjoy as much as their children did.

Their vision of cubby houses are fun and laughter, with lots of different play spaces to help kids’ imaginations grow and their cubbies do a brilliant job at keeping kids physically and mentally active due to the different levels of play space. So whilst kids are just having a brilliant time playing, they are actually being super healthy without knowing it.

When asked as to why they feel the need to ‘helicopter’ mind their kids, parents cite a number of everyday reasons why their children spend less time in nature than they themselves did, including disappearing access to natural areas, competition from television and computers, dangerous traffic, more homework and other time pressures. Most of all, parents cite fear of "stranger danger," as round-the-clock news coverage conditions them to believe that really is more dangerous out there than it was in their day. A My Cubby cubby house in the back garden can change all that.
