Australia's Appetite For Touring Continues

It seems Australians have a love of touring with the nation’s leisure vehicle market booming.

Recent research compiled by BDO (from the ABS Motor Vehicle Census) showed there are over 556,848 caravans, motorhomes and leisure vehicles registered in Australia  - a 34% increase since 2008.

Matt Sears, Managing Director of AW RV World said this represented a 5% year on year growth for the leisure vehicle industry over the past 6 years.

Said Matt, “Those stats are really encouraging for our industry.

“We’ve faced some interesting financial times over the past 6 years and I think to have survived that with such consistent growth stands testimony to the Aussie lifestyle and our love of exploring and adventure.”

Added Matt, “New caravans and motorhomes for sale at the moment are really sophisticated, offering a whole new level of functionality and comfort.

“We’ve really made our mark within the caravan and motorhome industry by stocking quality brands such as Sunliner motorhomes, Royal Flair caravans, A’van, Winnebago and Golf.”

And while Matt advises that the average new motorhome for sale can range between $100,000 and $150,000, he suggests there are a wide range of caravans and motorhomes available within a more family friendly price range too.

“We find that the higher priced motorhomes for sale are usually snapped up by retirees or travellers aged 55 plus. 

“There are still some great family friendly caravans for sale within the $30,000 bracket and under – particularly within the A’van range.

“Of course price is only one consideration however.  You really should do your research and make a list prior to starting your search for a new vehicle by outlining the things you will need from your caravan or motorhome.

“If you like to cook, the kitchen space and layout will be important.  Where as if you like to head off road, thinks like solar and self-sufficient power will be extremely important.

“If in doubt of course, head to a reputable caravan dealership for advice.”
