New Lightweight Safety Boots from Ascent Footwear

Announcement posted by Ascent Footwear 30 Sep 2015

Ascent Footwear has updated their feature packed safety boots for the 2015/16 season, to create a range of lighter, more stable safety boots designed for an athletic and supportive fit. These tough safety boots are ready to take on any terrain you can throw under them.

Brisbane based Ascent is an Australian owned footwear company, well known for their extensive range of school, executive and work shoes. So when the brand decided to venture into safety boots they had a firm foundation of knowledge ready to go, enabling them to create a range of highly functional, yet comfortable safety boots.

Like any good company that values quality and innovation, Ascent decided to start development of their updated Safety range immediately after the success of their first release. They wanted to continue to improve the safety boots by packing them full of function without compromising on comfort.

A recent footwear review from Pro Feet Podiatry described Ascent Safety boots as “The most comfortable and functional safety boots in 2015!”

Ascent was motivated to develop a safety boot that was slip resistant, supportive and comfortable in response to the high number of workplace injuries. In Australia, 1 in 5 workplace injuries involve feet or lower limbs. With this in mind safety boots from Ascent are constructed on running shoe technology, providing all day comfort and superior torsional support. Their safety boots feature an exclusive Comfort Zone incorporating a super lightweight direct injected PU midsole featuring Poron® Performance Cushioning and Insulon which absorbs shock that over time can cause bone and muscle trauma. The lining is thermal regulating Drilex® lining that wicks out moisture to keep your feet dry and comfortable.

A common misconception when buying new safety boots is you need to break them in, however if you are purchasing the right set of boots this shouldn’t be the case. Stuart from Ascent explains the issue with this “wear in” concept. “Think about the last time you purchased a new pair of running shoes. Generally they are comfortable from day one. The problem with traditional safety boots is in the construction. A typical safety boot is designed with a 90-degree heel counter, which can cause blisters and a flat foot bed from heel to toe that causes fatigue and heel spurs. The issue is once you get through that traditional “breaking in period”, you then need to replace the safety boot as it is now broken down and is no longer providing adequate support.”

The integrated midfoot stabiliser which features on all of the safety range from Ascent has been designed and developed to assist in preventing excessive pronation, providing a stable platform for walking on uneven surfaces whilst an active heel counter is moulded to the shape of the ankle to provide lasting support during a long working day. A lightweight composite safety toecap is size specific and oblique in shape to offer more room for the toes and protect your foot against serious injury.

The range also features a 300° heat resistant, aggressive oil, acid and slip resistant rubber outsole. The Alpha 2 also offers electric shock protection by insulating electrical current and preventing it from being grounded. The shock protection is certified to meet EN 50321 when used for low voltage installations.

Other key features in the range include quality full grain breathable leather upper for durability, heavy duty zip with fastener making the boot more convenient to get on and off, a removable PU cup insole with in built positive arch support, a bump cap to prevent scuffing of the leather.

The other crucial element to choosing a safety boot that fits comfortably is selecting the right size. Knowing your size isn’t always easy, so getting fitted correctly is something that Ascent recommends doing when purchasing a new boot. The Ascent range is available in US sizes 6-15 with half sizes from 7-12, offering a wide 4E width while a specific women’s range is also available.

Ascent has the ability to supply directly to large companies and to simplify the buying process they have developed an online portal which allows businesses to select a range of company approved footwear, place orders, run reports on purchase history and track delivery. If required Ascent also offers a nationwide professional fitting service.

By purchasing a safety boot from Ascent you can have peace of mind that you are covered on industry standards, the complete Ascent safety boot range has passed all of the Australian and New Zealand safety standards.Their range includes safety boots with or without a zip, slip on with protective fingers, water resistant, executive and jogger styles.
