THE AUSTRALIAN SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS, FILM AND TELEVISION PRESENT ‘MUSIC: A MUSE TO SEEK’ AT QPAC THIS DECEMBER. ASPA-FTV, a leading performing arts and film production school across South East Queensland are to present their end of year production Music: A Muse to Seek in the Cremorne Theatre, QPAC on December 12th.

Music, it makes us dance all night, weep till dawn, sing like it’s our last breath, relax into a daydream, distract us from our daily woes and remember a life lost to yesterday. What is it about music that is so universally appealing? “We’ve all had the experience when a familiar song comes on the radio, and suddenly all our senses are alive in memory of that time in our past the song played soundtrack to” said ASPA-FTV Artistic Director Amanda Hardwick. “Is it possible that our shared human experience, which makes music so powerful and comprehensible. The very human experience we so often seek music to relax with. In a way we seek muse from, and in the music, but in the same way the music seeks muse in us.”

Music: A Muse to Seek is made up of three original plays performed by the students of ASPA-FTV’s course Creative Theatre Production. With the direction of their course teacher, the students worked together to help conceive, write and stage an original play under the theme Music: A Muse to Seek. As a result, each play will explore the title in its own unique way. The students have worked feverishly over the last twelve months, and are excited to show off their hard work culminating in a live performance at QPAC on the 12th December.

“Shakespeare said ‘scars remind us that the past was real.’ Some scars serve to remind us of the horrible things that have happened to us, and to prevent us from going down the same path again. Other scars provoke fond memories of freedom, love and adventure. Good or bad, ugly or sad, beautiful or healing – music - however you hear or feel it, will always remind us of our yesterdays. However, in our bid to forget or remember the past, I hope we take the time to see that although the scar may be forever, we are scoring the soundtrack to our life right now.” Said Amanda.

The Australian School of Performing Arts, Film and Television present Music: A Muse to Seek at the Cremorne Theatre, QPAC on December 12th. Tickets can be purchased through: www.qpac.com.au or 136 246.
