14 YEAR OLD SYDNEY BOY TO BECOME ONE OF WORLD'S YOUNGEST SOLO PILOTS!

A 14 year old Sydney boy hopes to become one of the youngest solo pilots in the world this week.

With 28 hours of flying lessons already in his log book the schoolboy intends to celebrate his 15th birthday this Wednesday morning 21st October at Bankstown Airport ( weather permitting)by becoming one of the youngest solo pilots in the world.

Due to a lowering of the age from 16 to 15 by CASA(Civil Aviation Safety Authority) last year it is now legal for a 15 year old to fly solo. The young man, whose name will be revealed on Wednesday and will be available for media interviews, will be able to fly a plane solo at 15 but unable to legally drive a car, have a drink or vote!

With the possibility of an aviation career ahead of him, he'll be following in the footsteps, or wings, of the Wright Brothers, Neil Armstrong( first man on the moon, got his pilots license at 15) Charles Lindbergh(first flew at 20 years old, gained global fame at 25 by being the first person to fly solo nonstop from New York to Paris), Charles Kingsford Smith (earned his pilot's wings at 20 and at 31 made the first trans Pacific flight from the US to Australia), Howard Hughes(set multiple world air speed records in the 1930's) and magician Harry Houdini (at 35 made the first controlled powered flight of an airplane in Australia on March 18 2010)
