Announcement posted by H&H Jewellery 04 Nov 2015
The H&H Jewellery store was first established in 1996 by brothers-in-law, Chris and Harry – Chris has a number of years experience in jewellery making and design, whilst Harry has been in the business since childhood and is now recognised as a Master Jeweller. Since their conception, these jewellers in Melbourne have expanded and now have three stores – one each in Elsternwick, South Yarra and on Collins Street in the CBD. They are known for the creation of truly unique and exceptional pieces, including: wedding and engagement rings, bracelets, necklaces, rings, pendants and watches.
After deciding that their current website was outdated and realising the desire to sell jewellery online as well as in store, Harry and Chris contacted web design company Zeemo with their request. After initial discussions, it was decided that the H&H Jewellery store needed a sophisticated online presence that spoke of the quality of the pieces they sell. It also became clear that the jewellery needed to be the hero of the design – the pieces are highly attractive in their own right, so not much else should be needed to sell them. Some initial concepts were created by Zeemo’s expert design and marketing team.
The finished website (at http://www.hhjewellery.com.au/) features an attractive black and burgundy background that is accented by stunning banners and images that really showcase the quality of the jewellery. The navigation has been placed inside a black box at the top of the page, making it easy to find and use. It outlines the categories of the website – H&H’s own collections, engagement and wedding rings, other jewellery, brands and watches. Above this navigation is another, smaller bar with links to information of this jeweller in Melbourne, their store information, contact details and store login.
The shopping cart is an exciting new feature for the website, which allows customers to make purchases online. Whilst the database is still relatively small, H&H are adding new pieces everyday. The cart is visible in the black navigation bar and also lets you know how many pieces are currently sitting in it. By mousing over the icon, a drop down will appear detailing each of the items in the cart. To add an item to the cart, all a visitor has to do is click through to the detail page and click ‘add to bag’. Visitors are also able to select the quantity of each item and, in some cases, the type of metal and the size of the piece.
