Dr Andrew Maher joins Aurecon as Chief Digital Officer

Announcement posted by Aurecon 05 Nov 2015

To drive digital transformation within its business, Aurecon Global CEO, Giam Swiegers is pleased to welcome Dr Andrew Maher to the position of Chief Digital Officer. Andrew officially joined Aurecon on Monday 19 October 2015.

The pace of digital disruption is challenging many businesses, including Aurecon. In today’s digital world, effectively connecting and servicing customers is an essential part of being ‘future ready.’

“The digital revolution is ubiquitous. It feeds a shifting environment that is transforming the business landscape. It is shaping pathways to a future that is as yet unwritten. The key to digital success is to harness imagination, link this to evolving digital expertise and empower teams to connect across economies, businesses and communities,” said Giam.

“Andrew will lead the development and delivery of Aurecon's digital strategy and road map. In the role, he will partner with Aurecon colleagues and clients to explore current and future requirements of the digital economy. He will jointly develop and trial cutting-edge digital solutions to address these opportunities,” said Giam.

As Chief Digital Officer, Andrew will champion Aurecon's digital vision and lead a cross-organisational digital team focussed on achieving a convergence of core advisory, engineering and delivery platforms.

Andrew joins Aurecon from Arup, where he was Leader of Digital Innovation from 2008 – 2013. More recently, he led the Arup University within the Australasian region.

“I am looking forward to engaging with Aurecon colleagues and clients to explore the opportunities digital platforms present – both in the planning and delivery of projects,” said Andrew.

An architect by profession, Andrew was a Research Fellow with the RMIT University's Spatial Information Architecture Laboratory for six years. During this period he investigated complex geometry and researched the way knowledge flows within project-based organisations.

Prior to this, he worked for architectural firms in Melbourne and Germany, including with Lab Architecture Studio, working on Melbourne's Federation Square.

Andrew's appointment as Chief Digital Officer follows two other recent, significant appointments – John McGuire as Chief Innovation Officer and Kourosh Kayvani as Global Director, Excellence and Expertise. Together, these appointments are key to Aurecon's transformation to be 'future ready'.
