Announcement posted by Aruba 18 Nov 2015

  • Aruba announces new customers Dick Smith, Crown Resorts, Fed Square and UTAS
  • Attended by 300 mobility and Wi-Fi technology experts
  • Inaugural Atmosphere ANZ begins on the Gold Coast

QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA. 18 November 2015 – Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, has today announced innovative new customer partnerships with Dick Smith Electronics (ASX:DSH), Crown Resorts, Fed Square (Melbourne), and the University of Tasmania.

These organisations join a rapidly expanding group of large and SME customers in Australia and New Zealand – including Scentre Group (Westfield), JB Hi Fi, Tennis Australia, James Cook University and the Catholic Education Office – which are embracing a mobile first approach to building the workplace of the future.

Armed with mobile devices, a new generation of users known as #GenMobile are transforming every aspect of work and personal communication. How companies choose to deal with #GenMobile today will have a profound and lasting effect on their organisations well into the future, as they grapple with designing workspaces, retail environments and learning campuses that meet the demand for the mobile-first, cloud-first applications these users crave.

“How Tomorrow Moves” is the over-arching theme of Atmosphere ANZ, which has gathered more than 300 business leaders and technology and mobility experts on the Gold Coast, Queensland for the first time. A key focus of this event is to bring together the Aruba community of technical experts, known as Airheads, to learn, network and debate the future of networking and mobile technologies.

Speaking at the event, Keerti Melkote, co-founder of Aruba Networks and now Chief Technology Officer for Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, said “Enabling mobility for employees is arguably the number one priority for enterprise and SME organisations as the industry shifts from the traditional client / server era into a cloud and mobile first era.

“The recent acquisition by HP enables Aruba to deliver an end-to-end wired and wireless solution, with a mobile-first architectural approach. We know this is important to our customers around the world as their #GenMobile employees continue to demand flexibility in the working environment.”

Other session topics at Atmosphere ANZ include creating the digital workplace, designing the campus of the future, engaging shoppers and customers via mobile engagement using Aruba beacons and implementing comprehensive mobile security policies.

Australia and New Zealand is a key market for Aruba, with recent research from IDC reporting ANZ saw an overall WLAN market growth YoY of 5.7% for the second quarter 2015. Aruba has experienced double digital growth in the last year, outpacing the ANZ market and gaining significant market share.

Speaking about the wave of organisations choosing Aruba to meet their future needs, Steve Coad, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand for Aruba, said: “Atmosphere is an influential platform for our Airheads community to discuss the trends, insights and opportunities for the Mobility and networking markets, and we are pleased to bring this to Australia for the first time.”

“#GenMobile is dramatically impacting and changing the way businesses must think about their technology infrastructure. The thirst among businesses in the ANZ market for mobility solutions is strong and getting stronger as employees, students, shoppers and visitors vie for secure and high speed access to the network for their smartphones, tablets, laptops and wearable devices. This tension is creating significant opportunity for our business and that of our partners who are consulting to organisations in this market.”

Atmosphere ANZ runs from the 17 – 19 November on the Gold Coast.
