Football fans to be treated to original yesteryear Balfours Pie Floater recipe

Announcement posted by Leverage PR 24 Mar 2016

It might nearly be Easter, but Christmas is expected to come early for local football fans, who will get an exclusive tasting of original Balfours pie floaters using the same historic recipe in front of the iconic Norwood Oval on March 24 at the first game of the season.

The opportunity is made possible from a partnership forged between the Norwood Football Club and Balfours, to offer an advanced taste test of the original curb-side culinary delight before it makes its official debut at the new-look Parade Pie Cart to be launched next month.

Norwood Football Club CEO, Mr Geoff Baynes, said the long-established relationship with Balfours had allowed football fans inside the grounds to enjoy the much-loved range of pies, sausage rolls and snacks, and this special event outside of the oval lets the wider community also enjoy the range of tasty treats.

“Balfours has kindly shared its original pie floater recipe, so fans will be able to have an authentic trip down memory lane and experience this genuine and iconic piece of Adelaide history against the backdrop of the picturesque Norwood Oval,” Mr Baynes said.

“Generations of South Australians have fond memories of eating a pie floater, and we are proud to ensure that future generations also get to enjoy a traditional Balfours meat pie sitting in a bowl of thick pea soup and topped off by a generous amount of tomato sauce,” he said.

The official unveiling of the Parade Pie Cart by the Norwood Football Club is planned for mid-April, after which locals and visitors alike will be able to enjoy the culinary delight of an original Balfours Pie Floater, iconic Frog Cake, or Custard Tart – along with freshly-brewed coffee.
