Viva Expeditions Take You To Argentina’s Premier Wine Region - Mendoza

Announcement posted by Viva Expeditions South America Tours 31 Mar 2016

Kiwis should by now be taking advantage of Air NZ’s non-stop service to Buenos Aires, which is now running three times a week, reducing the flight time to the Argentine capital and bringing more competition to the travel market between New Zealand and South America, and the service will make it that much easier for Kiwis to travel to South America. Continuing on with their series on South America, here Viva Expeditions highlight their four day trip out of Buenos Aires to Mendoza, Argentina’s premier wine region.

The first day gives passengers arriving from New Zealand the chance to settle into their hotel, and day two includes visiting some of the top wineries in Argentina. This tour takes in the three top wineries in Luján and/or Maipú district (Finca Decero, Belasco de Baquedano, Lagarde, Norton, Chandon, etc) with classic lunch (varietal wines) included in Belasco, Decero or Lagarde and a tour guide specialised in wines. The wine-tasting will embrace the classic line of the wineries. Luján´s district, crossed by the agricultural oasis, is located in the North of Mendoza, only 18 km from the Capital where visitors can taste the incomparable Malbec Mendocino.  Maipú´s district is one of the main districts in Mendoza, and joining with Luján de Cuyo these make the ‘First Wine Zone’ of Argentina, cultivated with the highest quality of grapes and producing the best wines.

During day three visitors will discover beautiful Mendoza city, starting at the Foundation area developing around Pedro del Castillo square, where the first stone of the city was set. Then they will visit the Foundation Area Museum. After visiting the modern part of the city and the Civic Centre, they will visit Cerro de la Gloria, a natural viewpoint of the area and the city where they will find the Fank Romero Day Greek Theatre where the city celebrates its most important wine party, and on day four they will return to Buenos Aires.

Tasting some of the best wines that Argentina can offer will provide a memorable experience, and travelling with Viva Expeditions’ Small Group Expeditions means that travellers are fully escorted in small group tours that are virtually all-inclusive, travelling in one of their purpose built expedition vehicles and enjoying the comforts of quality tourist class hotels throughout the journey.
