GS1 Australia is proud to support St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research

Announcement posted by GS1 Australia 07 Apr 2016

St Vincent's Institute of Medical Research is GS1 Australia's Charity of Choice

For immediate release Thursday 7th April 2016 GS1 Australia today announces its commitment to support St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research (SVI), a Charity of Choice that will benefit the lives of many people.

SVI has been chosen as GS1 Australia’s Charity of Choice because it conducts research into common diseases that affect us all, including Cancer, Type 1 Diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.

By researching diseases that touch many of us at some point in our lives, SVI aims to help alleviate the enormous financial, emotional and physical impacts of these diseases on individuals, their families and the community.

“GS1 Australia shares this vision and is proud to be associated with SVI to assist in the research of common diseases that will improve the health of the community and better the lives of so many Australians who are affected by these debilitating diseases,” said Mrs Maria Palazzolo, GS1 Australia’s Chief Executive Officer.

The partnership with SVI has also welcomed the establishment of a Working Place Giving Committee at GS1 Australia to identify fundraising opportunities in support of this charity.

“We are grateful to GS1 Australia for making us their Charity of Choice. Their support will have a significant impact on our world-class research,” said Professor Tom Kay, Director of SVI. “Thanks to GS1 Australia, more people will learn about and benefit from SVI discoveries.”

Mrs Palazzolo added, “As part of GS1 Australia’s social responsibility, we are committed to making a positive difference in our community, our environment, the lives of others and our members.

“Our 17,000+ company members at GS1 Australia range from small, family-owned businesses to large, multi-national organisations. This provides us with a great opportunity to share our Charity of Choice program with our members and foster a strong community spirit to generate further support for SVI.”

The Charity of Choice program is just one part of GS1 Australia’s wider commitment to support individuals and communities through fundraising and philanthropy. Visit the GS1 Australia website to learn more about our social responsibility, Charity of Choice, and how to donate to SVI research.
