Tradies are driving a boom in cloud computing and mobile technology, swapping traditional trade tools for mobile technology and apps.

Brisbane electrician, Derek Munn from Munn Electrical is one such tradie commonly using mobile apps for job scheduling, cloud calendars, invoicing, onsite payments and working out electrical calculation and cable current ratings.

Derek estimates that using mobile apps saves him between 10 and 20 hours per week but said finding the right mobile technology and apps for your business is key.

“Every business owner will have different objectives for what they want their apps to do.

“We found over 200 apps that were all suitable for our objectives but some had not enough bells and whistles while others had features that we were never going to use.

“We did our research, consulted with a cloud expert and also used free trials offered by our providers before settling on the technology that were were comfortable using and could easily implement.”
