Cutting edge healthcare providers deliver quality care with Aruba

Leading Australian healthcare facilities inject fresh approach to solving traditional IT pain points
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA. 14 APRIL, 2016 – Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company (NYSE: HPE), today announced a number of new Australian customers in the healthcare sector that have embraced its Mobility Defined Networks to better support patients, doctors and importantly vital monitoring devices. Leading healthcare facilities adopting mobility solutions to ensure the continued delivery of high quality care in an increasing digital environment include Epworth HealthCare and Feros Care.

Epworth HealthCare is Victoria’s largest not-for-profit healthcare group, and is renowned for its cutting edge healthcare, as well as its embrace of evidence-based medicine and pioneering treatment for patients. With technology a vital part of the experience for both doctors and patients at Epworth’s seven facilities, the Group embarked on an upgrade of its enterprise mobility infrastructure from older generation 802.11n and 11g wireless technology to the latest networking standard, 802.11ac.

According to Epworth’s infrastructure manager, Nicholas Hobbs, the Group made the decision to deploy Aruba’s 802.11ac mobility infrastructure and ClearPass Access Management solution to leverage a secure, higher performing wireless network, with the capability and bandwidth to support a larger density of users at any one time.

“With patients, there’s an expectation that Wi-Fi will be there. Wireless is akin to electricity now, with access a basic requirement. People just expect that it will be there,” he says. “However, security is a factor in everything that we do in the healthcare space, and there aren’t a lot of choices when it comes to high quality security. That’s why we chose Aruba – a system that we can rely on, with ClearPass playing a major role in the complete solution,” said Mr Hobbs.

Similarly, multi-award winning not-for-profit organisation, Feros Care has deployed Aruba mobility solutions to continue to provide quality care and support services for older Australians. In order for the aged care provider to remain highly competitive in the Australian healthcare industry, a secure mobility solution was required. The wireless network infrastructure underpins Feros Care’s patient care requirements and assists with the implementation of its strategic technology plan and residential care house ‘e-villages’ program, delivering intelligent mobility across the organisation.

According to Feros Care’s Chief Information Officer, Glenn Payne, “Feros Care is technology driven, introducing an ‘Electronic Village’ (e-village) philosophy throughout all residential care houses in NSW. We are using technology to completely transform the way we work and care for our patients.”

Due to the success, feedback and ease experienced by the Aruba mobility network solution, the new Feros Care building will be completely cordless using Aruba’s Wi-Fi network, removing the running of cable altogether.

“Aruba’s mobility solution provides the opportunity to connect any device anywhere, any time. Be it the corporate office or residential sites, we aren’t restricted in any way, instead we’re empowered,” continued Payne.
Steve Coad, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand for Aruba, said the increased demand for its mobility solutions among Australian healthcare institutions highlights the changing nature of patient care and the importance technology plays in health and palliative care environments.

“We are seeing an increasing demand from healthcare providers for high-performance mobility solutions. Our market leading solutions and understanding of the technology required to support these facilities has enabled us to work in

partnership with some of the best healthcare facilities around Australia to deliver a meaningful and positive experience for administrators, staff and patients,” said Coad.

“Aruba’s Wave 2 Access Points offer an efficient network solution, for high-density environments such as healthcare facilities. We are truly excited about the work we are doing with these forward thinking healthcare facilities,” Coad added.
