2014 Vin Cerveaux Pouilly Fumé medals in premier trade driven awards

Media release
EMBARGOED until 11:00am, Tuesday 26 April
London, United Kingdom

Vin CERVEAUX, a new label produced and bottled by LEVIN Wines, has won a silver medal in its first vintage of production, at the renowned 2016
Sommelier Wine Awards, judged blind by a panel of sommeliers and wine buyers from the UK’s top hotels, bars and restaurants.

Vigneron and director, Lynne Levin is renowned for the family owned, organic, Loire domain LEVIN Wines, but Vin CERVEAUX (wine brain) is not constrained by convention or appellation. Branching out from the Levins’ own domaine, Lynne Levin directs grape selection, oenology and blending for Vin CERVEAUX, guided equally by left brain logic and right brain intuition.

‘Vin CERVEAUX is a new project for LEVIN and so it’s been very gratifying to develop the wine, using the same eye for quality, exploring new appellations and wine styles and have our first vintage medal at the Sommelier Wine Awards,’ explained Vin CERVEAUX and LEVIN Wines director, Lynne Levin.

The grapes for this wine have been grown using environmentally friendly viticulture methods, adapted to suit each terroir. In the winery, following cold stabilization, fermentation takes place at low temperatures in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the aromatics and refreshing acidity. (Alcohol: 12.48% - Residual sugar: 2,51 g/L - Total acidity: 4,65 g/L)

Competition category: France Loire Sauvignon Menetou/Pouilly

Judges’ Tasting notes:

'Elegant nose with aromas of flint and citrus. Very well balanced on the palate with racy minerality and clean fruit, with a long, mineral finish,' said Georgi Mihov of Bohemia Bar and Restaurant, while Gregg Lambert of Galvin La Chapelle noted 'greengage and fresh stone fruit, with a flinty note'.
