The black-tie ABIAs ceremony celebrates the best writers, publishers and book retailers across Australia. The galaxy of star authors who eagerly await the winning verdict this year includes:
Top-selling international authors, Jonathan Franzen, Gloria Steinem and Jeanette Winterson who are guest presenters joining host Kitty Flanagan.
Magda Szubanski is in line for best bio and best new writer for her Reckoning: a Memoir.
Rosie Batty, Australian of the Year 2015, and crusader against domestic violence, for A Mother's Story, her heartfelt story, written with Bryce Corbett, of the shocking murder of her son by her ex-partner.
Tim Winton, Australia's most acclaimed writer, thinker and conservationist, riding on his first ABIA non-fiction entryIsland Home; a landscape memoir.
Rosie Waterland, whose raw, subversive and hilarious Anti-Cool Girl is a shout-out for anti-cool girls everywhere.
Richard Glover, ABC radio presenter and SMH columnist whose Flesh Wounds chronicles his "weird'' family.

There will be opportunity for photography and interviews from 6pm. Jonathan Franzen will depart the venue at 7.15pm for a Sydney Writers Festival commitment,
