OptimalJ 3.3: delivering extended collaboration and service-enablement functionality
Taking enterprise development to a new level, Compuware Asia Pacific today released the latest version Compuware OptimalJ 3.3, delivering extended collaboration, simple legacy reuse and faster development.
OptimalJ 3.3, which can be used on any Java platform, is a new collaborative development solution that is used to rapidly build enterprise-grade applications and can be integrated with a broad array of legacy and packaged applications. Designed to address the significant challenge of aligning IT initiatives with business priorities, OptimalJs implementation of Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) makes it significantly faster for Java development teams to deliver service-orientated applications.
Compuwares OptimalJ 3.3 further enhances the extended collaboration offered in OptimalJ by integrating requirements management through a partnership with SteelTrace Catalyze, a requirements management tool. This integration enables business analysts to formally participate in the development process by using Catalyze to gather and capture requirements that can be automatically propagated into OptimalJ. Developers using OptimalJ can then trace back to the business requirement through the bi-directional integration between the two products.
According to Franco Flore, Compuwares OptimalJ Product Manager, OptimalJ is the only collaborative development and integration environment that is optimised for the realities of todays enterprise development challenges.
"No development process can be completely automated, yet OptimalJ enables teams to apply automation where it adds the most value. This enables a true iterative development process that results in the consistent, rapid delivery of software that achieves maximum business value."
In addition, OptimalJ 3.3 extends its automation capabilities by enabling developers to model applications page flow, visually lay out forms with widgets and then binds these widgets to back-end data components and services. Acting as an in-built user interface designer, OptimalJ 3.3 automatically transforms technology independent design into a working application, using customisable user interface design patterns that give web application a consistent look and feel.
OptimalJ 3.3 comes with a host of new integration capabilities, including a new integration with SAP R/3, giving OptimalJ 3.3 the ability to connect with more back ends than any development solution in the industry. The latest release OptimalJ 3.3 also further expands its integration functionality to provide support for green scan and legacy applications that run on non-IBM platforms through its native integration with leading mainframe modernisation technology, Sabratec ApplinX.
Compuware provides a full portfolio of products and services to reduce the complexity involved in developing, deploying and managing enterprise applications that deliver maximum business value. Today, Compuware announced it is enhancing its solutions for enterprise Java applications with the release of new versions of Compuware OptimalJ, Compuware DevPartner Java Edition and Compuware Vantage Analyzer for J2EE, a new addition to the company's application service management solutions.
