Oliver v5 and Orbit at the new Book Bunker – The Scholastic Children’s Library at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne

Announcement posted by Softlink 06 Jun 2016

Softlink’s Oliver v5 is helping to bring the joy of reading to children at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne

Scholastic Australia’s ‘Book Bunker’ opened at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne in May this year. The Book Bunker is a vibrant, inspirational place ‘dripping’ in literacy and learning is designed to bring comfort, adventure and fun, and help open a world of possible to sick children in hospital.

Oliver v5 is providing the technology to guide children in their exploration of the library’s 8,000 books. Patients can visit the library in person to browse and borrow books, or they can access the catalogue from their bedside using a web enabled device. With fun themes, avatars and picture-based search options, the Orbit junior interface makes it easy for children of all ages and abilities to browse the library catalogue.

Softlink Managing Director Nathan Godfrey expressed his excitement about being involved in Scholastic’s Book Bunker project.

‘The Book Bunker is a great initiative and Softlink is proud to support such a worthwhile project.’
