Encouraging STEM: Young Australians Invited to Pitch App

Budding entrepreneurs in Year 8 – Year 12 across Australia are invited to enter the inaugural Crimson App Pitch Competition, for their chance to secure $3000 worth of seed funding, to help develop their idea into a reality.

Applicants may register as an individual or team (maximum of 3 people), with applications closing 6 July at 11.59PM, after which 6-8 finalists will be selected and provided the opportunity to pitch their idea in front of a panel of experts. One exceptional app will then be selected, and its creator/s will receive $3000 worth of seed-funding from Crimson Consulting.

The competition was designed to encourage students to develop their entrepreneurial, negotiation and communication skills, as well as an interest in STEM, in a bid to inspire young people to dream big, set ambitious targets and constantly strive to self-improve.

CEO and Co-founder of Crimson Consulting, Jamie Beaton, who will be on the judging panel, says it was his opportunity to pitch,  that kick-started Crimson’s journey towards offering personalised education services, globally. He now hopes to provide a similar springboard to others.

“For students in Australia, this may be their first experience pitching in front of a panel of experts, which can be a real turning point for their future goal-setting and career planning after school,” Beaton said.

“The skills students will develop as part of this competition, and the confidence that it will help build will provide key life-skills and inspire the students to think big, think globally, and to always strive for success.”

Beaton, 21, recently graduated from Harvard with a degree in Applied Mathematics-Economics and a Masters in Applied Math of May this year, two years ahead of schedule. Moreover, Beaton is one of the youngest students in the world to gain admission to study at Stanford Graduate School of Business this year, having been accepted age 20.

The other expert panellists, will be Harvard graduate Sachin Patel who is a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company, a prestigious and selective management-consulting firm and also a Global Education Consultant with Crimson Consulting. Hao Zhou, tech-expert and Chief Technology Officer of Crimson Consulting is also a panellist.

Crimson Consulting provides students with personalised academic and extracurricular support, through a team of tutors and mentors, based at the most prestigious education institutions in the world, including Harvard, Oxford, MIT, NYU and LSE.
