Panasonic unveils light and compact 1-chip DLP laser projectors

Announcement posted by Porter Novelli 22 Jun 2016

Designed for robust operation in commercial enterprises and the public sector
Sydney, June 22, 2016: Panasonic has unveiled a light, compact lineup of 1-Chip DLP™ SOLID SHINE laser phosphor projectors, the PT-RZ970 Series, aimed at universities, museums, exhibitions and digital signage applications.

The PT-RZ970 Series boasts 10,000 lumens (Centre) (9,400 lm**) brightness at up to WUXGA resolution. This three-model series (WUXGA, WXGA, XGA) builds on the features and the technology of Panasonic’s multi-award-winning PT-RZ670 Series, but with approximately 1.5 times more brightness and with picture quality approaching that of the company’s 3-Chip DLP™ models.

The PT-RZ970 is engineered for maintenance-free long-haul operation. It features an airtight optical engine block that’s tested to exceed the industry’s most stringent dustproofing standards as well as dual solid-state laser modules to maintain high brightness with no maintenance for up to 20,000 hours.*1

Chris Maw, Product Marketing Manager, Projectors, Panasonic, said: “The Panasonic PT-RZ970 Series laser projectors incorporate cutting-edge technology to achieve vibrant picture quality and high 10,000:1 contrast ratio. These filter-less projectors are essentially dust-proof, and are subjected to punishing tests to ensure flawless long-term performance and low total cost of ownership (TCO), from lecture halls to museums. The PT-RZ970 Series also conveniently shares optional lenses with Panasonic’s 1-Chip DLP™ projector family.”

Together with a DIGITAL LINK single-cable connection to reduce cabling costs and shared lenses for 1-Chip DLP™ projectors, these features keep TCO to a minimum. DIGITAL LINK enables video and control signal transmission for up to 150 m*2 in Long Reach Mode when used together with Panasonic’s optional ET-YFB200G DIGITAL LINK Switcher.

The projectors also include a new high-speed backup input that switches almost instantly to a backup should the primary signal fail, ensuring the highest reliability in situations where the image display should not be interrupted, such as surveillance and simulation rooms. Additionally, in spaces where full brightness is not required, a selection of long-life modes are available to extend light source life to up to 10 years of continuous 24/7 operation.

On the imaging side, the PT-RZ970 projector efficiently harnesses the power of new-generation laser diodes with a heat-resistant phosphor device and Quartet Colour Harmoniser colour wheel to maximise available light energy through four colour channels. This results in a more accurate white balance and vivid, natural colour reproduction with minimal loss in brightness over time.

To achieve a high contrast ratio of 10,000:1, the PT-RZ970 Series features a Dynamic Contrast function that very quickly and precisely modulates light source output according to image requirements, resulting in deeper blacks even when dark and bright scenes frequently interchange. Detail, colour performance, and perceived resolution are further enhanced with Panasonic’s Detail Clarity Processor 3, System Daylight View 2, and Rec. 709 modes, ensuring brilliantly clear and punchy images in any environment or application.

The compact PT-RZ970 Series is also one of the industry’s most flexible to install permanently or rig temporarily, with free 360-degree cabinet rotation (horizontal and vertical) and wide-range powered lens shift with keystone correction and built-in Geometric Adjustment.

For quick and easy projection onto specially shaped surfaces and for mapping and multi-projector applications, the units support Panasonic’s free Geometry Manager Pro software*3 and optional upgrade kit (ET-UK20 Series)*3 as well as the Auto Screen Adjustment Upgrade Kit (ET-CUK10 Series)*3. Further, the projectors support the ET-DLE030 Ultra-Short-Throw Lens for rear projection.

*1 At 20,000 hours, projector brightness will have decreased to approximately half of its original level. Light source lifetime may be reduced depending on environmental conditions. Replacement of parts other than the light source may be required in a shorter period. *2 Video signal resolution is limited to 1080/60p (dot-clock frequency 148.5 MHz) and below. *3 Geometry Manager Pro software, ET-UK20 Series, ET-CUK10 Series are available only with PT-RZ970. PT-RW930/RX110 is not supported.
