ADDING MAJOR VALUE TO THE AUSTRALIAN ART AND CULTURE SCENE
Sydney, 6 July, 2016 - Australian property development and investment company, Aqualand, is excited to announce it is the new Principal Sponsor of the world’s largest annual free-to-the-public outdoor sculpture exhibition, Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi.  Aqualand’s three year sponsorship is the most significant in the exhibition’s history and will support the continued growth of the acclaimed Bondi event.

The annual Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi draws over 500,000 visitors to the Bondi coastal walk across the 18 day exhibition period each spring.  2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the exhibition which will this year showcase its 2,000th sculpture and over 100 new artworks from local and international artists.

Mr Jin Lin, Managing Director, Aqualand said it’s very exciting and a great privilege to be invited to be the Principal Sponsor of Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, which is such an iconic annual event in Sydney.

“Our aim at Aqualand is to inspire life; we think with our hearts to create better, smarter and more beautiful living environments and firmly believe that accessible public art is a key element of vibrant and engaged communities.  It really is our great pleasure therefore to be associated with an innovative, iconic event that pushes creative boundaries and brings outstanding public art each year from countries all around the world to the people of Sydney, and its visitors.” Jin said.

A key component of the sponsorship will see Aqualand donate $60,000 to an exhibiting artist as part of the Aqualand Sculpture Award. The award will be announced at the exhibition opening day and, as part of the award, the sculpture will be donated for permanent public placement, in a location to be announced later in the year, for the people of Sydney and its visitors to enjoy for years to come.

Aqualand’s support for Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi complements the company’s sponsorship of the ‘Tang: treasures from the Silk Road’ exhibition on display at the Art Gallery of NSW and an ongoing commitment to the Western Sydney Wanders and the Live Life Get Active community programs.

Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi is taking place at Bondi to Tamarama Coastal Walk from 20 October to 6 November 2016.
