Wine Island - Sydney's 'Best New Event' returns to refresh your soul and palate

Announcement posted by Palate PR 02 Aug 2016

Unique wines in a unique island setting - without needing a passport

Aloha! From Suzanne (the toucan) and her crew at Wine Island. You may have heard through the grape-vine that Sydney’s best new wine festival* will be returning to Sydney Harbour on Fri 11 – Sun 13 November … and now Wine Island is excited to announce all the information you’ll need to set sail to paradise.

Wine Island is a great way to experience a luxurious island getaway - offering unique wines in a unique island setting - without needing a passport. Set on Clark Island, this exquisite yet relatively untouched oasis is a small island (with big dreams) so only a limited number of holiday-makers can attend the event. This gives Wine Island that first-class feel. Relaxed seating areas and hammocks will complement the stunning harbour backdrop and provide deluxe spaces for everyone to ‘drink’ in the festival atmosphere.

All holiday-makers will be transferred by the Bubbles Boats to Clark Island whilst enjoying a glass of award-winning Italian Rotari sparkling on your journey over.  Once on the island, you can discover over 100 unique wines (from home and abroad) along with delicious food huts, masterclasses, bubbles & vermouth bars and treasure hunts.

Wine Island 2016 has attracted some of the world’s most talented winemakers and Sydney’s favourite food producers to bring together an exceptional level of epicurean quality.  The list of wineries is as diverse as it is extensive, with over 100 exciting new-wave wines from innovative producers such as Chaffey Bros., Thomas Wines, Fox Gordon, Clyde Park, Mount Langi Ghiran, Paxton Organic Wines, Tintilla Estate and 6Ft6.

Continuing the island’s Italian love-affair, another new addition to discover at this year’s festival will be King Valley Prosecco Road. Guests can play a bit of bocce whilst learning more about sparkling wine and adventurous Italian varieties from Dal Zotto, Pizzini, Sam Miranda, Chrismont and Brown Brothers.

Last year’s popular Masterclasses will expand in 2016 to include Dessert Island where some of the world’s leading dessert wines will be matched to delicious sweets.  We will also be introducing a Silent Disco Drops for those who like to match their music to their wine.

Island food will be provided by Banksii Vermouth Bar & Bistro (the first of its kind in Australia, opening in Barangaroo in September) along with Oysters Unplugged, Chur Burger, The Hunter Valley Cheese Factory and Puntino/A.P.E.

Kristen Francis, founder of Wine Island explains, “Wine Island is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves wine, relaxing, great company and something ‘oh so Sydney’ in equal measure. It’s about combining our love affair with this beautiful city with quirky yet laid-back experiences with wine, food and culture. This is the place where you can feel like you’re leaving the city while entering the very heart of it.”

Wine Island 2015, the festival’s maiden event, sold out within 2 hours and was awarded the title of ‘Best New Event 2015’ by Concrete Playground* so don’t delay - jump on board!
