Uni Roles: Evolving online advertising in Higher Education

Announcement posted by Uni Roles 31 Aug 2016

Uni Roles introduce pay-per-day advertising

Uni Roles launched in October 2015 and have been delivering desktop, mobile and social advertising solutions to Higher Education institutes across Australia.

As print advertising revenues continue to decline, and online advertising becomes the metric by which return on investment (ROI) for job advertising grows in Human Resource divisions, Uni Roles have launched a product that addresses modern advertising needs.

Having chosen to enter the competitive online advertising industry late last year, Uni Roles have watched as acquisitions and mergers have taken place and left the Australian higher education sector facing increased job advertising costs in order to attract a declining traditional audience.

As higher education institutes, in particular Universities, focus more on cost control and the results of their job advertising efforts in a bid to support more enterprise-focused objectives, it became clear that advertising operators were not listening to the needs of the advertisers. In response to this, Uni Roles have launched their ‘pay-per-day’ advertising solution.

Research shows that almost 50% of University advertised jobs are listed for less than 14 days!

Simon Muller, Founder of Uni Roles said “Pay-per-day advertising is the next evolution of job advertising for the higher education industry. It addresses the core need for flexible short-term advertising and lowers the overall cost of online, mobile & social advertising. Our research shows that Australian universities are over-spending by at least $1m a year in online advertising, and having seen the success of operators in other industries moving to micro-services models, it seemed clear that Universities should be able to benefit from a ‘pay for what you use’ advertising offering.

“The traditional approach of ‘post and pray’ for 28 days isn’t good enough for Universities that are coming under increasing pressure to analyse their recruitment data and sourcing channels in order to optimise their job advertising spend.” He also stated that “As well as our pay-per-day advertising rate of just $15 per day we’ve developed a social attraction strategy to help Universities reach the enormous passive candidate audience. We’re changing the way we reach job-seekers because job-seekers have changed the way they search for jobs.”

Uni Roles has spent 9 months researching the academic job-advertising sector and found that almost 50% of Uni jobs which are advertised are listed for less than 14 days. Some academic jobs, and even research roles are advertised for less than 7 days, such is the demand for short recruitment processes in an industry that employs over 100,000 people in Australia.

Uni Roles is committed to evolving online job advertising and will be looking to expand their footprint and deliver new and innovative recruitment solutions in the higher education sector throughout 2016/17.
