Sydney, Australia – 1 September 2016 – Brother International Australia is proud to announce an exciting craft and sewing initiative supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  In the lead up to Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Brother is reaching out to the community and inviting crafters and sewing enthusiasts to create a limited edition 2016 Pink Ribbon Breakfast apron. The initiative is designed to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research.

To enter, participants are being asked to create their own pink apron masterpiece, upload the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photo to the Brother Inspires website and either send the apron in to NBCF directly for judging or drop it off at a participating dealer.

Pink Ribbon Breakfast ambassadors, Kate Ceberano, award-winning Australian music artist, and Kim McCosker, 4 Ingredients cookbook author will be judging the entries and selecting the top 20 finalists and one ultimate Grand Prize Winner. The top 20 aprons will be signed by Kim and Kate and used as fundraising prizes at Pink Ribbon Breakfast events throughout October and November with the grand prize winner to receive a high tea experience valued at $500. All aprons entered into the competition will be used by NBCF to support fundraising efforts towards breast cancer research. The competition is now open for entries with the cut off on 21st September 2016.

“As a longtime partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation we are excited to be able to inspire our sewing community, supporting dealers and general public to get crafty in support of the valuable work NBCF do.” said Sherene Grace, Marketing Manager, HSM at Brother International Australia. “We are looking forward to watching the community take up the chance to get involved by pulling out their sewing machines and unleashing their creativity for charity. It’s a chance to put rusty skills to good use for those that haven’t sewn in a while, learn a new skill, or even get a group together for a sewing bee to support a worthwhile cause”.

All competition details, list of participating dealers, as well as terms and conditions can be found on the Brother Inspires website or by clicking here.

Dr Sarah Hosking, CEO of NBCF, thanked Brother for their ongoing generous support.

“On behalf of everyone at NBCF and all the women and men affected by breast cancer, thank you so much for your support. Your commitment makes a huge difference,” she said.

This October friends, family and colleagues will get together to raise funds for NBCF’s life-changing breast cancer research by hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast. There are many ways to get involved: enjoy a Pink Ribbon Breakfast on your own or with friends, organise a morning tea with your workmates at the office, host a sausage sizzle with your sports team or turn your school pink for a day.

“By hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, you are ensuring that we can continue to fund the very best cancer research in Australia,” continued Dr Hosking.
