Shimadzu Oceania Selects Cincom CPQ™ for Enhanced Sales Efficiency

Announcement posted by Cincom Systems of Australia Pty. Ltd. 13 Sep 2016

Shimadzu Oceania, an Australasian subsidiary of Shimadzu Corporation, has selected Cincom CPQ to replace the organisation’s existing quotation practices with the goal of improving quote-to-order accuracy and sales efficiency.

Shimadzu will utilise Cincom’s configure-price-quote software solution in both its scientific-instrument and medical-device divisions in Australia.

“We didn’t just want a CPQ system. We wanted a solution that would integrate with our Microsoft Dynamics CRM online platform to help deliver comprehensive improvements in our sales process,” said Nigel Grieves, National Sales and Operations Manager at Shimadzu. “In addition, we believe Cincom CPQ will help us streamline internal processes and reduce the number and cost of quoting errors. In this regard, the configurator will be of great benefit to us.”

Shimadzu Medical Systems provides a broad range of diagnostic imaging equipment, including X-ray and screening equipment. Shimadzu Scientific Instruments specialises in providing a broad range of analytical instruments indispensable for research, development and quality control in chromatography, spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.

This variety of products offered by Shimadzu eventually demanded a new solution capable of guaranteeing accuracy and valid configurations at greater speed, while also accounting for more flexibility in pricing.

“We are proud to provide Shimadzu, such a respected name in such a critical industry, with the solutions they needed to augment their salesforce automation,” said Graeme King, Country Manager at Cincom®. “Knowing that they were also seeking to maximise their investment with their Microsoft CRM system meant that we were really able to offer them a complete package in regards to CPQ and platform integration.”

“We began evaluating our options in regards to CPQ in 2015 and were referenced to Cincom through our relationship with MicroChannel,” Grieves explained. “We contacted Cincom, and even spoke with one of their clients, Sharp Australia. The closer we looked at them, the more sense it made for us to choose Cincom.

“Together, we’re putting a system in place that will offer real value to us and, as important, will offer a better experience for our distributors and buyers.”
