Changing The Way We Travel

A Vida Local launches Australia’s first travel & tourism online marketplace

Bondi, Sydney – A Vida Local is a Sydney based start-up that has launched Australia’s first online marketplace for Travel & Tourism. The idea behind the site is that local people across Australia can now offer interesting and unique experiences and advice to people visiting. At present some of the experiences on offer include; scenic walks, surf lessons, yoga by the beach, historic pub tours or just good old fashioned local advice at the end of the phone.

It’s always the local people that give you the flavour for the place, says Matthew Evans, co-founder of A Vida Local. ‘I’d just got back from travelling South America (hence the name) and came to the realisation that for much of the trip, I’d spoken English with others from English speaking countries and wondered – “have I actually experienced South America?” The situation is a familiar one for those of us that have found ourselves on an open top bus tour or sat on the production line of restaurants in an old town square.

The site enables locals to sign up and post listings to the site and offers visitors the opportunity to catch up and book with the locals - all through the online platform. The key to the success of A Vida Local and any share economy, is the people that sign up says William Astrom the sites developer ‘We worked exceptionally hard on the verification process of locals and to control of the content that goes live on the site - so that we can ensure quality local experiences only’.

Over the next 3 months A Vida Local is looking to promote over 100 new and unique local offerings across Australia from the city to the country, the coast to the outback. Exciting times for the travel sector here in Oz.
