HomeWorld launches Hunter Trade College scholarship program

Australia’s biggest and most established display home organisation, HomeWorld, today announced a new scholarship program with Hunter Trade College to help build career paths for local students.

Launched today at the Hunter Trade College graduation, the sponsorship program will include a full scholarship for one student from the Hunter region to complete the HSC with a vocational education specialisation in Carpentry or Electrotechnology delivered at Certificate III level as well as providing eight tool kits to assist in practical learning for all students.

HomeWorld, CEO, Phil Jones said the organisation is committed to furthering the growing building industry in the Hunter, an area it’s been a part of for more than 15 years.

“HomeWorld is extremely proud to be supporting Hunter Trade College to empower young people to pursue a rewarding career in the building industry. We and our builders feel strongly about investing in education and training, and supporting the communities to which our villages belong,” said Jones.  

Based in Telarah, Hunter Trade College provides young adults with the opportunity to study for the Higher School Certificate while commencing a trade qualification and accessing pathways into a various trades, including building and construction.

Hunter Trade College, Principal, Ann Holcombe said: “We value the opportunity to work with a key player in the Hunter Valley housing construction industry and assist with the supply of skilled young people, eager to work in the industry.”

The announcement follows the opening of the new HomeWorld Thornton display village in July, which features 43 display homes from 14 of New South Wales’ leading building companies, to help people discover, create and build their dream home.

The village includes a diverse range of homes to explore from duplex to acreage living, sloping blocks and innovative new designs for future family homes.

Launched in 1986, HomeWorld is a co-op representing 44 of Australia’s leading, competitive homebuilders, and showcases more than 200 different display homes at HomeWorld villages in Kellyville, Camden North and Thornton.
