CNN’S EMMY AWARD WINNING HALA GORANI IS COMING TO AUSTRALIA

Emmy award winning CNN anchor and correspondent Hala Gorani is coming to Australia for the Women World Changers Summit at The Peninsula in Melbourne on October 10 and at The Star in Sydney on October 12 to share her observations and insights into the global uprising of women and the role of women leaders. Hala Gorani has been named one of the most powerful women by Forbes Woman Middle East, as well as a top 100 most powerful Arab women by Arabian Business Magazine.

She joins an incredible list of speakers include Patricia Milligan, Mai Chen, Kate Jenkins, Wendy McCarthy, Carol Schwartz, Holly Ransom, Graeme Watson, Christine Bartlett, Ronni Khan, Giam Swiegers, and Australia post CEO Ahmed Fahour – as well as Melbourne MC Waleed Aly and Sydney MC Indira Naidoo.

Hala Gorani is one of CNN's most experienced international journalists, she currently anchors The World Right Now with Hala Gorani, and has reported from every country in the Middle East including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian territories. She was instrumental in CNN International's coverage of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in 2006, for which CNN won an Edward R. Murrow Award. In 2010 Gorani covered the devastating earthquake in Haiti, for which CNN's coverage was recognized with a Golden Nymph award - one of the highest honours in international journalism. Gorani was also one of the CNN journalists awarded a News and Documentary Emmy for the network's coverage of the 2011 Egyptian revolution that led to the ousting of the country's then president, Hosni Mubarak.

In 2008 Gorani attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and moderated the closing session that featured several business and political leaders including Tony Blair, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel and JP Morgan Chase & Co. Chairman and CEO James Dimon.

Gorani formerly hosted Inside the Middle East, the monthly show featuring stories on the most important social, political and cultural issues in the region. During her five years as host, she reported on several colourful and thought-provoking stories including poverty in oil-rich Bahrain; everyday struggles for artists living in Iraq; and gay life in the Middle East, which was a first on international television and earned a nomination for a Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) award.
