Brisbane-based psychometric test provider to represent Australia in International Serious Games Challenge

Brisbane: Leading Australian online psychometric test provider to the HR industry, Revelian, has been announced as the Australasian winner of the 2016 Serious Games awards and will compete for the global awards at the world’s largest simulation congress in Orlando, Florida next month.

Revelian’s COGNIFY, an immersive psychometric assessment game designed to improve the recruitment experience for jobseekers and released to market this week, was announced as the winner of the government/ industry category at the 2016 Australasian Simulation Congress in Melbourne.

COGNIFY predicts a candidate’s future work performance including dealing with new or complex problems, learning quickly, grasping numerical information, spelling and grammar, via 7 short, engaging games.

“Candidates become immersed in the games and forget they’re completing an assessment, which means they’re less stressed, and you get more authentic data about their performance, as well as promoting your brand as an innovator.  It’s a very different - I would say more positive - experience for the candidate,” Revelian CEO Cherie Curtis said.

It’s the second game based assessment to be developed by Revelian’s in-house team, with Theme Park Hero (launched in 2014) already strongly established in the market, particularly for graduate recruitment.

Game-based assessments have a high level of appeal to candidates in skills-short, high growth disciplines such as digital marketing and IT, where candidates are accustomed to gaming and attracted to employers who can demonstrate innovative thinking.  

“80% of the candidates who were surveyed by Revelian during the assessment phase, preferred game-based assessments to the more traditional style of psychometric test,” Curtis said. 

Revelian will now represent Australasia at the International Serious Games Showcase and Challenge (SGS&C) in Orlando, Florida as part of I/ITSEC, held from the 28th Nov until the 2nd Dec 2016. I/ITSEC is the largest simulation conference in the world and attracts more than 20,000 delegates.
