New Zealand schools partner with Aruba to provide high-quality learning and teaching opportunities

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA. September 2016 – Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company (NYSE: HPE), has today announced strong growth in the education sector of the New Zealand market. Following the appointment of Andrew Fox to the role of Country Manager, New Zealand, leading secondary schools, Rangitoto College and Avondale College are two educational institutions that have embraced Aruba’s Mobility Defined Networks to better support student and teaching initiatives.
Rangitoto College is a state coeducational secondary school, located on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. The largest high school in New Zealand, Rangitoto College educates over 3,000 students from Year 9 throughout Year 13. Rangitoto College required a wireless network to support its best practice e-Learning initiatives, whereby more than 10,000 devices connect at any one given time. Enabling accessible and high-quality learning opportunities that improve student engagement and achievement is a key priority for the school.
According to Associate Principal of Rangitoto College, Don Hastie, “Students need to use technology confidently and safely, in a way that supports modern learning and helps them participate in the future workforce. Rangitoto utilises a range of cloud-based tools to support 21st century learning in the classroom to enhance collaboration, communication and creativity.”
We wanted to implement the right infrastructure that could support our BYOD program. We went to tender and looked at various wireless solutions through which Aruba came out as the desired and preferred solution. Aruba was the only Wi-Fi provider that could meet each and every need of our school,” concluded Hastie.

Similarly, Avondale College, one of New Zealand’s largest secondary schools, uses technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience across the entire 14-hectare campus. Avondale’s innovative approach to teaching and learning now means everything the school does is underpinned by intelligent classroom management tools and a resilient Software-Defined Network (SDN) that is dynamic, manageable, cost-effective, and adaptable.
Avondale College Principal Brent Lewis explains: “Aruba and Avondale College designed an IT infrastructure solution to deliver a steep change in reliability, performance and scale to power the prevalent use of technology throughout the curriculum and establish a platform for the digital workspace needed for education of the future.”

The new digital learning environment features significant compute power, significant storage, along with a large set of credible applications so both students and teachers work on a platform that is rich, on premises and cloud-based, but most importantly, industry ready.”
