Dr Lisa Chimes says, Freshen Up your Dog’s Meals

Announcement posted by Real Pet Food Company 24 Oct 2016

Dr Lisa Chimes says there’s a simple way to freshen up your dog’s meal times – add fresh pet food like deli rolls and meatballs from the supermarket chiller to their dry kibble, for healthy and happy pets.
Bondi Vet’s Dr Lisa Chimes is passionate about helping Australians feed their pets the best diet possible, and she says adding fresh pet food – gently cooked to retain vital nutrients – to a high-quality dry kibble is one of the best ways to freshen up their diets to keep them happy and healthy.

Tasty new brands, healthy recipes with fresh ingredients and exciting new serving formats – like meatballs, tasty bites, ready-to-serve fresh recipe meals and deli rolls to slice and dice as needed – are now available in the supermarket pet food chiller.

Pet Parents can find a selection of brands that are offering complete and balanced meals for dogs, made with all-Australian fresh meat and vegetables.

Dr Chimes says: “A nutritionally balanced diet is the foundation of your pet’s health, and it’s important that you feed them a diet that’s specially formulated for their needs, remembering not to over-feed them.”

As well as stimulating their appetites and keeping meal times interesting, the water content of chilled food is great support for dogs’ hydration and urinary health, while older dogs can enjoy the softer textures of fresh pet food.

Raising the bar in the pet food chiller are brands like Nature’s Gift and new entrant Farmers Market, who are leading innovation in chilled food with enticing serving formats and fresh recipe meals. They offer fresh meat as the number one ingredient, including chicken and beef sourced from Australian farmers, and fresh vegetables you can see, like peas and beans, spinach, sweet potato, and “superfoods” like quinoa and chia.

Meatballs with lamb and spinach, and ready-to-serve “fresh recipe” meals like chicken with garden vegetables and brown rice, are just some of the exciting new range from Farmers Market, which embodies a “farm to bowl” philosophy in creating premium natural fresh pet food.

Dr Chimes says: “My dogs love chilled food mixed with their kibble, especially the variety of flavours and textures that are available in chilled meals.”
Besides adding chilled food to dry kibble, dog lovers can try serving kibble in the morning and a fresh meal at night. Meatballs and tasty bites come in a box of individual packets that make a perfect treat to enjoy on a walk.

The packaging on chilled meals includes feeding guides to ensure the right amount of fresh pet food is added while decreasing dry food to give each dog exactly what they need.

Dr Chimes advises: “Remember to always introduce new foods gradually, and feed according to the instructions on the pack for their ideal body weight.”
