‘COMES LOVE’ EP LAUNCH

HETTY KATE & JAMES SHERLOCK

With guest Milush Piochaud on bass, November 11th

Popular Melbourne based jazz vocalist Hetty Kate will be coming to Adelaide to perform an intimate concert at Nexus Arts on Friday 11th November, celebrating the release of her newest EP Comes Love.

"A stage presence only matched by the clarity of her voice.." James Morrison

Hetty is one of Australian jazz luminary James Morrison’s favourite singers, and has graced stages from New Zealand to New York; released eight acclaimed albums; sung for the lindy-hop/swing-dance community across Europe, Asia and Australia, and more recently has joined the ABC Jazz / Universal Music stable of vocalists. Now dividing her time between Europe and Melbourne, Hetty is enjoying touring nationally to support her latest release.

Titled Comes Love, this EP is the first small group recording in Hetty’s discography, and features James Sherlock (guitar) and Tamara Murphy (double bass). Taking inspiration from the energy, creativity and space often found in a live performance, this EP is infused with warmth and spontaneity and inviting you along for the ride.

Known for a swinging, straight-ahead style and natural musicality, Hetty Kate is often lauded for what she ‘doesn’t do’ as a jazz singer. Her approach keeps true to the melody and lyric, and uses improvisation in a way that never detracts from the story of the song. It is this rare quality that has her performing on stages around the world, visiting Thailand, Korea, Singapore, France, USA, England, New Zealand and more in the past two years alone.

For this Adelaide show, Hetty will perform the songs featured on Comes Love, as well as many of the classics and curios from her extensive repertoire. Award winning, Melbourne jazz guitarist James Sherlock will accompany her along with outstanding local bassist Milush Piochaud, and the performance is guaranteed to please fans of timeless songs, swinging music and beautiful jazz singing.
